Midnight Skies

Midnight Skies - Exmoor in Verse is a 21st Century anthology containing sixty Exmoor inspired poems by fifty nine poets. These range from Exmoor people born and bred to others who have gravitated here more recently. Contributors include members of writers' groups as well as those who write by themselves for pleasure and often healing.

The 'Hare of Enlightenment' guides the reader through the pages in the guise of a 'Muse' and gives us a glimpse of the beauty of the ‘Exmoor Dark Sky Reserve’.

Not only is there a rich and varied choice of poems with which to indulge yourself but also stunning dark sky astro images.

The book is dedicated to Hope Bourne 1918 - 2010 who lived self-sufficiently on Exmoor and whose love for Exmoor was absolute.

“These poems achieve considerable success in imparting the remarkable qualities of Exmoor, with its own self-contradictory aura of tranquillity. This book should encourage those who do not already know and love Exmoor to rectify their loss; for those of us who do, they will evoke and refresh our own complex emotions.”
Sir Stephen Waley-Cohen

"These outstanding poems are a tribute to the power of Exmoor. They draw their spirit from the land itself, and from its ancient buildings. Many of them remind me powerfully of walks, views, moments, in time.”
Dame Margaret Drabble
