Mid Summer EventA poetry and music evening on Saturday 28th June 2014 at 7.30pm taking place on Exmoor.
Celebrating 120 years of the unique octagonal Music Room at Woolhanger (by courtesy of the owners) combining 18c/19c classical music with Exmoor inspired poems.
Come to an evening of Words and Music in the Music Room built with fine acoustics in 1894 by Sir Henry Carew. Situated south of Lynton/Lynmouth within Exmoor National Park. Moorland views to The Chains. Grounds and Mediaeval Room open (ticket holders only) from 6.00pm to sounds of Celtic harp - Hazel Prior. From 7.30pm music performed by Susan Steele - grand piano, Elizabeth-Jane Baldry - concert harp and Christopher Ward - pipe organ.
Programme includes Victorian classical music, Exmoor inspired contemporary poetry selected from 60 poems in 'Midnight Skies - Exmoor in Verse'; prose from writers whose images were depicted in original Woolhanger stained-glass windows. Summer refreshments.
